Starting at your hotel in the Historic Quarter of Valparaíso or at any convenient meeting point within the city limits, this 6-hour privately guided experience covers Valparaíso's historical and cultural context, its diverse architecture, and its vibrant street art.

Some of the landmarks you might visit, depending on your own interests, are:

Playa Ancha, Valparaíso's largest neighborhood, is a peninsula-like hill with its own historic, less-touristy district — Gran Bretaña Ave, a beautiful and rocky seashore, and one of the city' most scenic lookouts: Paseo 21 de Mayo — actually on Cerro Artillería (a small hill within Playa Ancha).

The historic entry point to Valparaíso, the bustling Muelle Prat pier offers a vivid glimpse of Valparaíso's local culture and everyday port life. Short boat tours of the bay, both shared and private, are available from the pier.

Just a few steps into the city, Valparaíso's main city square — Plaza Sotomayor — is lined with historical buildings (the stately Edificio de la Intendencia being the most impressive) and centered on the Monumento a los Héroes de Iquique, a memorial that holds the remains of Arturo Prat and other heroes of the War of the Pacific — a pivotal moment in the history of Valparaíso, Chile, and neighboring nations.

The joyful heart of Valparaíso, Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción are a living gallery of vibrant street art paired with cobbled streets and a charming blend of French mansards, Alpine mansions, English gardens, and elegant promenades (Paseo Yugoslavo, Paseo Gervasoni, and Paseo Atkinson). These two hills offer a wide range of cozy cafés, local artisan shops, fine restaurants, and boutique hotels.

Valparaíso's main wet market, Caleta Portales, isn't the typical market you're probably thinking about. Besides the experience of getting fresh seafood from local fishermen, Caleta Portales' strategic locational by the beach offers panoramic views of Valparaíso as well as the natural spectacle provided by sea lions and pelicans battling for scraps under the market's pier. We can then stroll the Paseo Wheelwright promenade to Muelle Barón to get a closer, stunning view of Valparaíso from the ocean.
